The Private Reserve Premium Drive is based on the Red Spiral Drive Channel. The main differences are instead of using BS170 MosFETs it uses NOS 2N6659 T0-22 MosFETs from my private stash. It also has our own red 80n asymmetrical diode network for clipping instead of the stock 1N914's These changes affect both the core distortion texture as well as the amount of gain. This results in a much "cleaner" sounding pedal with more headroom. With these changes I think it leans more toward a JTM45 voicing instead of a Vox.
If you are a player looking for a big sounding low-gain drive with an amp-like feel, then the Private Reserve Premium Drive is an excellent solution. It will push any amp into its sweet spot, and the tube-like MosFET compression will keep notes sustaining in a very natural manner.
Peak Control changes resonant peak of guitar pickups, must be first in chain.
